a bit of history

i love my nighborhood in brooklyn!!
park slope is a great place to live, with everything you can want in a neighborhood! resturants, bars, shopping, the people, and it's dog friendly!

i was excited to run across this website that tells the history of new york neighborhoods, streets, and subways. (check it out!)
Forgotten New York tells the history of 5th ave in Brooklyn from the early 1900's when there was an 'el' running along 5th ave,

to the 70's when it was Brooklyn's former Meatpacking district,
to it's gentrification in the 90's and on...
this is the end of my block! (yes, the yoga center is a sign that things are changing here)

and here is my first experience on 5th ave.

gabe, jeffrey, and i last winter. we were on our way to Great Lakes.
who would have guessed i would move block away!!

i will take this opportunity to do some free advertising and give a shout out to some of my favorite spots in the slope ...

where do i get my morning coffee? no place other than Gorilla! yeah, sometimes there is a long line on saturday or sunday mornings, but it is worth the wait.

i looove the the food at Bogota Latin Bistro. rice and beans, empanadas, fish tacos, and you have to try the strawberry mojotos! yummm!!!

rep your hood! you gotta get a tee from Brooklyn Industries!

me! (one of those hot, sweaty summer nights!)
